Lou Huxley begins high school as a walking contradiction: He wants to be popular, but he doesn’t want to stand out and get picked on. He wants love, but he can only put himself out there over text, or on social media. He wants a remarkable existence, but so far the most remarkable thing about him is his consistent track record of emotional, vindictive spurts.
His brother Egan simply wants to break the monotony, and through his example combined with new mischievous friends, Lou finds semblances of monotony breaking himself, particularly through a live fish in a locker and a violent, strange prank video of an unpopular teacher. But with Lou’s track record, there’s a fine line: How much of your world can you shake up before it shatters?
By the time the dust settles, friendships have splintered. Loves have been abandoned. His dreams of a remarkable existence slaughtered. With no escape in sight, how can Lou become who he’s fated to be?

I’ve always loved a great coming-of-age story, and if you’re a fan of greats like Looking for Alaska and Catcher in the Rye, I hope you will enjoy mine.
I will warn you that this story curses a lot, as teenage boys often do (sorry parents), but beyond this is an enriching story that is deeply infused with my heart and soul.
And so I hope that after almost a decade of working on I Make a Fool of Myself, you would consider taking a few days to read what I have to say, and hopefully leaving a positive review.

Here’s how the book has impacted others so far.

I personally can’t read and listen to music with lyrics at the same time, so this would be more of a “listen after reading” thing for me, but hey. More power to ya.
Or don’t, I don’t even care. Yeah, that’s right. I’m one of those “cool” authors.
