I’m Hudson Keown (pronounced “KEE-own”): author and music maker based in Southern California. As you can see by my picture, I’m really cool.
Musically, I write, play, record, and produce my songs. I love making all the decisions and having full creative freedom but it’s also extremely time consuming so, ya know, what can ya do.
My first official long-term project was my debut album, Giraffes Are People Too, which was released in 2020 and written across my teenage years. The recording and producing were done at Harmony Studios in Anaheim, along with studio musicians supplying drums, bass, electric guitar, and cello. I wrote, sang, and played piano, trombone, melodica, ukulele, and acoustic guitar. The album covers a wide range of genres: rock, acoustic pop, jazz, and r&b, and is a cohesive, story-driven project about rejection, infatuation, love, and loss.
About a year later I released my first official self-recorded-and-produced project—an EP titled Self-Mastered—which is more a story of perseverance. It also involves more modern genres, delving primarily into synth pop.

In 2022, I released “Soak City (feat. Nick),” a rap single about a waterpark. Some have called it the song of the summer.
In 2023, I continued exploring modern genres with my most recent release: Heartbreak Expansion Pack. The EP covers light, carefree topics such as the waves of veiled angst, deflection, and longing that crash within the ocean of heartbreak.
Over the years, I’ve also collaborated with theatre company See Humans to compose music and lyrics for several musical productions, including It’s Not Ogre Yet: A Shrek 2 Musical Parody, Ya Like Jazz? A Bee Musical, and A Fairly Odd Musical. I’m still riding the high of TheaterMania calling my melodies boppy and lyrics funny.
And in 2026, I finally released my debut novel and longest-term project to date, I Make a Fool of Myself. It’s a contemporary YA fiction novel and took almost a decade, between writing, editing, hiring and working with an editor, and rewriting. Wasn’t sure if I’d ever get it out there, but I did. Heh!
